SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE SUN ROOM VOL 2
“INSIDE OF THOSE POEMS I FELT I WAS IN AN EARTHLY PARADISE”
The Sun Room is a place where there are palms and limes. It is far enough from Earth so it can be seen in its entirety. A distancing that allows for a new honesty to emerge. The unconscious is the wilderness. As Gary Snyder wrote “Poets are the voice of primitiveness, that which contains the nakedness of the world. They speak of nature not society.”
The Sun Room is a philosophical & experimental literary print publication that aims to explore where the natural world and the human experience intersect. We are interested in (but not limited to) eco-poetics, memories of landscapes, moments of freedom, contemplation of essential spirit, the mundane, transmissions from nature, documentation of travel or states of transience, meditations on vastness, the mountains, the seaside, connectedness, modern brokenness, migration. We acknowledge the ability for language to behave like prophecy and hold a vibratory charge.
This publication was born out of celebration for the Sun—not just as a celestial body but as a symbol of life, energy, and the source of all time. Our books are contemporary statements that channel the playful kitsch of summer, with a compelling tactility intended to travel great distances. The Sun Room invites readers to contemplate their place within the vastness of themselves and Earth’s rhythms, in a way that not only incites a collective care for our environment, but reconnects us to the values of simplicity and slowness.
